The house museum beside Porto Canale
Casa Moretti stands beside the Porto Canale Leonardesco, placing the museum in the historic canal-side setting at the heart of Cesenatico. Its address is Via Marino Moretti 1.
The house became municipal property in 1980, following the testamentary wishes of Marino Moretti’s sister Ines. The canal setting also makes it easy to include the museum in a walk through the city centre. For context on the surrounding neighbourhood, use this practical guide to Cesenatico city centre.

Marino Moretti and the collection
Casa Moretti preserves the home and literary materials of Marino Moretti, an Italian writer who lived from 1885 to 1979. The collection includes original furnishings, prints, photographs and personal mementos, as well as a personal library of approximately 6,000 volumes.
The archive contains manuscripts, autograph papers, notes and letters, including correspondence with writers and intellectuals of the 20th century. Beyond its house-museum role, Casa Moretti is a study and research centre for 20th-century literature. It hosts literary events, exhibitions, conferences, meetings for scholars and schools, and guided itineraries.
The Marino Moretti Prize, a biennial literary prize established by the Municipality of Cesenatico in 1993, adds another strand to the city’s literary life.
